3. Appeals

We hope that you will not need this information, but we want to ensure you are aware of the procedure if you have questions regarding the grade received on 12st August for GCSE and 10th August for A level.

Step one:

You can request the data we have used to create the Centre Assessed Grade. This will have to be done using the proforma to be provided at a later date. These grades will only be emailed to the students' Arnewood email account, so they must ensure they have their password and know how to log in.

Step two:

If you think we have made a mistake, you can request for us to check for an administrative error. An example may be suspecting we have submitted an incorrect grade to the exam board.  If we believe we have made an error, we will contact the exam board and submit a revised grade for them to consider.

Step three:

If we do not think there is an error, you can ask us to appeal to the exam board on your behalf. We will supply to the exam board the data we used to make the Centre Assessed Grade, which the exam board will then review. The Exam board will then decide if the grade will change. However, it is important to realise that the grade may go down as well as up.

Appeals may only be made where candidates believe administrative errors or malpractice is suspected. Although the process we have described here being misapplied can be contested, teacher judgments can not.

Exam boards have been instructed by OfQUAL to treat improper pressure placed on schools to enhance a candidate's grade as exam malpractice.
