Uniform

School Uniform – Key Stage 3 and 4

We take great pride in our school uniform and wish to thank parents and carers for following the uniform list provided below. Additional guidance is provided for those seeking further information.

Uniform requirements

It is essential that students follow the uniform list below. A smart uniform shows that we take pride in our school as well as ourselves. Please contact the school if further guidance is required.

All Students

Trouser Uniform

  • Arnewood School blazer – Maroon, single breasted*
  • Black regular fit trousers (not tightfitting or bootleg)
  • Black school shorts* (Summer term only)
  • White collared school shirt, tucked in or white fitted blouse
  • School tie* worn at the correct length (the tie should end close to the top of the waistband)
  • Plain, black or grey socks
  • Black fully enclosed shoes – must be polishable. Shoes must cover the whole foot

Or

Skirt Uniform

  • Arnewood School blazer – Maroon, single breasted*
  • Arnewood pleated skirt. Length to be no more than 8cm above or below the knee
  • White collared school shirt, tucked in
  • School tie* worn at the correct length (the tie should end close to the top of the waistband)
  • Plain black/grey/white socks OR opaque grey/black tights. Socks and tights are not to be worn in combination

Optional

  • Black v-neck school sweater *

Accessories

  • A single gold or silver plain stud earring is permitted in each ear lobe.
  • All other piercings must be removed or filled with a clear retainer for school
  • Long hair must be tied back for science practical lessons, PE and technology lessons.
  • Make-up, nail varnish, gel/shellac/acrylic nails, temporary tattoos and excessive eyelash extensions are not permitted.

PE kit

Earrings and retainers MUST be removed for PE and the use of tape is NOT allowed.

  • Non-marking indoor trainers
  • White sports socks
  • Maroon school polo with Arnewood logo*

Either

  • Black shorts (not to be worn in combination with skorts or leggings)

Or

  • Black skort with Arnewood logo (not to be worn in combination with shorts or leggings)*

Or

  • Black school leggings with Arnewood logo (not to be worn in combination with shorts or skort)*

Additional Outdoor kit: (In extreme weather lessons are adapted and activities changed to indoor activities in order for practical lessons to continue)

  • Outdoor trainers
  • Maroon football/hockey/rugby socks*
  • Black under layer (long or short sleeved)
  • School maroon winter long sleeved top*

Additional equipment:

  • Shin pads, studded footwear (suitable for rugby and football on grass), gum shield, Black swimwear and towel
  • Please check with your child’s PE teacher when non-standard kit is needed
  • Please note: All summer shorts should be knee length

* These items must be branded and are available from PMG Schoolwear or our PSA’s second hand uniform website.

Not permitted

  • Boots or ballet pumps
  • Make-up and nail varnish
  • False eye lashes
  • Tattoos, including henna and temporary tattoos
  • Jewellery
  • Piercings – other than a single gold/silver stud in each ear lobe.
  • High-heeled shoes
  • Trainers/trainer-like shoes e.g. Vans and Converse
  • Canvas shoes
  • Sandals or any shoes that are not fully enclosed
  • Non-school skirts
  • Tight trousers, leggings, jeggings or jeans
  • False nails
  • Extreme hair styles (e.g. shaved patterns)
  • Unnaturally-coloured dyed hair
  • Hair extensions
  • Hooded jumpers

The Arnewood School understands and respects transgender students. Students in transition are permitted to wear their preferred uniform, including PE kit.
